What Does FDA Approved Mean? (click for more detail)

The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is the federal governmental agency charged with protecting the health and welfare of the American public through the regulation of food, drugs, and medical devices, among other responsibilities. The FDA takes its oversight mission seriously.

When an ingredient is "FDA Approved", it means that any claims found on packaging have been scientifically proven to be valid, safe, and effective. This involves clinical testing backed up by documentation and verification of test results. It also includes an FDA inspection of the laboratory and production facilities.

Including pharmeceutical grade or medical grade ingredients in products does not indicate nor does it guarantee FDA approval. "FDA Approved" is a separate designation attained only after a formal application and investigation process has been completed by the FDA.
