Key Ingredients for Sunless Tanner:
Dihydroxyacetone (DHA): DHA is a tanning agent derived from plant sugars. DHA reacts chemically with the amino acids in the protein keratin, the major component of the skin surface. Different amino acids react to DHA in different ways, producing different tones of coloration. The resulting pigments are similar in coloration to melanin, the natural substance in the deeper skin layers which brown or "tan", from exposure to UV rays. DHA-based sunless tanning has been recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation, American Academy of Dermatology Association, Canadian Dermatology Association and the American Medical Association as a safer alternative to sun-bathing.
Lactic Acid: Non-irritating, exfoliator facilitating rapid absorption of topical applications. Squalane: Increases the rate, depth, and extent of penetration of DHA and antioxidants. Helps protect and restore the moisture barrier.
Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C): Helps stimulate fibroblast production (a co-factor in collagen formation) for firmer skin tone. Provides antioxidant protection to reduce free radicals and guard against environmental damage.
Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol): Helps reduce inflammation, calm irritation, and assist in the restoration and strengthening of healthy skin and immune defense.
Vitamin E: Antioxidant to fight free radical scavengers.

Step by step guide for getting the best results with Sunless Tanner:
- Before applying a self tanner, prep your skin by exfoliating with a scrub. This releases dead and dry skin and opens pathways for the sunless tanner to work better. We recommend our Exfoliating Cleanser.
- After exfoliation, apply moisturizer to any dry or calloused areas where the sunless tanner might pool or collect — inside and outside elbow, knuckles, knees, heels, etc. This ensures that the tanner will be absorbed evenly. We recommend our Olive, Fig, Shea Butter Body Cream.
- Smooth Sunless Tanner onto skin on face and body, massage in to blend evenly. Avoid eyes, brows and hairline.
Wash hands with soap and warm water to eliminate tanned palms and fingers. Delay contact with clothing until lotion is dry and postpone bathing or swimming for an hour after application.
- Reapply daily until desired tan is acquired and every 3 to 5 days to maintain tan. Tan deepens gradually and vitamins and hydrators help skin feel smooth and healthy. This product can be used to deepen or even out an existing natural or spray tan.
